To give Swinburne College students an opportunity to practise their English speaking skills outside the classroom, volunteers will meet with College students for an hour to chat. There is no formally set topic or structure. The hour should be treated like a social gathering in order to give College students the most authentic experience.

If you are a Lilydale student and are interested in the challenge of answering the phone and helping students face to face, then contact Tim on the above details or for more information. This would be a useful experience to put on your CV and you would be helping out SSAA very much!

Volunteers will be working through class activities with these students. Volunteers will be expected to liaise with teachers, must have good English language and communication skills, and must be reliable.

Sessions run for 30 minutes and will be conducted in the Independent Learning Centre at Swinburne College. More info >SSAA is taking a group of international students to see the Hawthorn vs. Richmond game on May 26. We would like some local student volunteers to teach the rules before the game, practise a few skills and then come to the game. You'll receive volunteer hours for your time (which can be used to qualify for training, certificates, etc) free lunch and snacks and a free ticket to the footy.
