The Student Leadership and Volunteer Program was established to recognise Swinburne Student Volunteers in the various leadership and volunteer roles that they undertake.
Volunteers contribute in a variety of capacities including working at SSAA events and activities on campus; as orientation hosts for new students; as administrative, promotional and front desk assistants; as student representatives elected to Swinburne boards and committees; as panel members of academic and misconduct hearings; as mentors to other students; as convenors of the International Student Advisory and Postgraduate Student Advisory Groups and as the English Conversation Lounge facilitators.
Our volunteers add to the richness and quality of student life and engagement on campus. They are well-respected members of the Swinburne community.
Many of the students involved in the Program step forward to take on leadership roles as elected members of Swinburne Council, Academic Board, Board of TAFE Studies, faculty and department committees and as student representatives on the SSAA Board.
Each year an outstanding student is selected as the Student Leadership and Volunteer Program Student Leader of the Year.
Participants in the Student Leadership and Volunteer Program (SLVP) all have the opportunity to be selected to receive this award which is presented at the SLVP End of Year Celebration.
